All of the images that you will see on this site are of watercolor paintings by Webb Garrison (with the exception of the Civil War CD, Civil War prints, and the Works of William Hogarth).
Since 1995 we have been reproducing paintings for a large number of artists in western NC and upstate SC. After seeing the poor quality of a photo enlargement by a well established company and reviewing the internet prices for this service we have decided that we have something to offer to the general public worthy of the shipping cost, or putting it in different words - we do high quality large format printing at reasonable prices. We only use high quality heavy media and fade resistant inks. The fancy name given to this type of prints is "Giclee" which means nothing more than "inkjet." The pricing for both fine art reproductions and photos (an image is an image regardless of the source) follow: $0.08 per square in. (24" wide maximum) Somerset Velvet PE - 100% rag coated paper For sharp, crisp
color with a matte finish this is a great but expensive paper
$0.04
per square in. (22" wide by 30" long max) Somerset Velvet Radiant White
100% rag uncoated watercolor paperWhen a softer look
is desireable - especially when reproducing watercolors
$0.05
per square in. (24" wide maximum) HP Premium Plus Satin PhotoThis combination of
paper and ink claims a life of 82 years without noticeable fading -
inside environment
$0.07
per square in. (20" wide maximum image) - inkjet canvas
(charged for image size only - not for margins)We
spray these with clear acrylic to moisture-proof; then, brush on clear
water based acrylic to protect against scuffs, but we do not stretch
the canvas. That, you'll have do yourself.
We do have quantity discounts. How to calculate cost: Take the dimensions of your desired image size and add desired margins. For example you want an 8x10 inch image with a 1 inch margin or border all around. The print size becomes 10"x12" or 120 square inches. On uncoated watercolor paper cost would be 120 x $0.04 or $4.80. The only exception to this method of pricing is with canvas in which case the margins are not added even though 1 1/2" to 2" is actually added for stretching; so that an 8"x10" image on canvas would cost 80 x $0.07 or $5.60. The printer is 24" wide and can take paper 24" wide by up to 50 feet long, but please don't ask us to print a 50' image. There is no packing/handling charge added to the shipping cost. It is estimated based on weight and destination and added to the print cost. When you provide the file we can blow it up 400% with Genuine Fractals Print Pro without noticeable blurring of edges. Most people in the business print from 300 DPI images. Our printer prints at 1200 x 2400 DPI regardless of the resolution of the input file. Higher resolutions are preferred, but we've gotten great results from even 72 DPI files. A slightly compressed jpeg on the low end of the maximum quality range works fine. When you save a file as a jpeg (.jpg) close it and then reopen it and look at it at full size to see if any dithering occurred. The best results for artists is achieved by our doing the digitizing. This allows us to proof against the original painting. We strive to achieve a close match to the original for a fee of $50 for digitizing and proofing. In rare cases where a perfect match is required we have to charge for the additional time of breaking the image into components and working with those parts separately. If you would like for us to print your file, start with an email to webbgarrison@gmail.com. Gmail allows very large file transfers. You can attach the file to your email and ask for an exact quote. There is no charge for most image enhancements, but more complicated changes take time and we do have to charge in that case. At any rate you'll know the exact cost before any money is paid. An alternative to emailing a file is to upload it to one of our websites. We can explain in an email how to do that.
